There shouldn't be anything wrong with your K10D if the Pentax software "sees" the lens data. Something like this was discussed in another thread and I think I mentioned about Photoshop stripping the lens data off the EXIF file. My PS version is the CS; someone mentioned that later versions (CS2? CS3?) support lens data.
