Probably a couple of factors. Since he apparently flies alone, the ergonomics of the 645 are likely much easier to deal with. Enough so that it's pretty feasible to shoot one-handed if necessary - more easily than with a 67, especially when you take film winding into account. Getting more shots on a roll could be significant and being able to quickly change inserts to reload would be very helpful. Bill Fortney, who published the spectacular "America from 500 Feet" book of aerial photography shot from ultralights, was planning on switching from Nikon 35mm to MF and chose the Pentax 645 for precisely this reason. (Until Nikon offered to provide big sponsorship money, at which point he decided to stay with 35mm...) >> Interesting story, great pictures.
