I was originally planning on cutting across the state towards Moab, but
decided at the last minute (read I missed the exit) to continue south and go
through Bryce Canyon and Kodachrome Basin. I will probably spend tomorrow
night at Kodachrome, Monday at Monument Valley and then start my mad dash
towards the east coast. on Tuesday.
I am still planning on arriving at the mountain on Thursday, though it would
surprise me not at all if I end up not arriving until Friday.

Bryce and Monument Valley, alone will make your trip worth it. Although I
hope you also get to see Santa Fe. If you do, be sure to drop into the Georgia
O'Keefe Museum. There are also photos there of her taken by Alfred Stieglitz.
It's pretty hard to miss, there are signs saying where it is. OTOH, downtown
Santa Fe is very easy to get lost in, the roads are laid out following old
burro trails. So get a good map.

Drive carefully.
