I got my Ratoc FR1SX SCSI-to-Firewire adapter last week... but
discovered it wouldn;t connect to the old-style 25-pin D-connector on
my Minilta Scan Multi II so I had to order an adapter. Well the adapter
arrived today!

It took a couple of hours of computer wrestling to get it to work -
not really because installation or configuration was difficult, but
because the
machine-translated-from-Japanese-to-English-probably-through-several-oth
er-languages-along-the-way manual made it seem that way.

During the process I discovered that there are newer drivers for my
scanner, so I guess there was some additional benefit gained.

So now my scanner is working its way through a batch of 30 slides as I
write this :)

By the way, the configuration software for the SCSI-to-Firewire
converter, is the FR1 utility and is designated "FRUITY" by the
manufacturer. I kid you not. So now I'm left wondering if it's better
to be "SCSI" or "FRUITY". Frankly, I don't think I want to know,
