Although it did in Master mode.

I had the 500DG set in several posiotions. First to my left, about 18"
away. Then left about 4' away.
Next almost in front of me, maybe 2' off centre right, and about 7-8'
infront. Next was about 15' away, just off centre right, but at 90
degrees to me. Last to my left again, about 9-10'.

I tried in direct and bounce mode. All the pictures look the same,
except for the 90 degree ones. They were properly exposed.

Histo's were missing info in the right quadrant, but there was a small
amount. Looks about 1 stop under atleast. This with ev comp added.

BUT as i said, i cannot tell if the off camera flash is actually doing
anything, as the pictures with out that Sigma, and just the pop up,
look the same.
