That's the problem with digital right? you loose the "decanting" property of having to wait for the film to be developed, 1 month seems to be a good waiting period until deciding if something is good, life is too short to wait for a year... The other problem is not separating the different roles, when you are taking pictures you are allowed to go crazy, experiment, and try new things, when you put yourself in the curator role, you are supposed to be this ruthless merciless guy that all of you are describing. If you shoot as an editor your work will end up being just average, maybe a little better, definitely not original, and if you edit as an artist you might end up with wacky looking crap.
