Tim, I'm going to try to bolster my initial positive reaction to this pic as is. Your courage in taking on a theme with the implicit personal and photographic difficulties which will certainly be encountered, allows for less than totally rule conforming images. Yes, even those adverse conditions creating special technical and aesthetic circumstances will contribute to their impact.
