OK I've found the front-panel procedure. I thought I had it in a text file but it turns out to be on paper in my filing cabinet so I'll transcribe it with slight editing. Note that this is for the 2100 / 2200 and may or may not work for other models. 1. Turn off the printer power and unplug the power cord from the wall. Disconnect the computer interface cable at the back of the printer. 2. After one minute reattach the power plug to the wall, but don't reattach the computer cable. 3. Hold down the ROLL and the PAPER ADVANCE buttons simultaneously. 4. Turn the printer on [while holding those buttons down]. After 2 blinks, all the ink lights come on and you can release the buttons. 5. Press and hold the ROLL button for 10 seconds. 6. Release the ROLL button and the printer will initialise, which resets the waste ink pad counter. 7, Once initialisation is complete, turn the printer power off. 8. Reconnect the interface cable. In addition to the above procedure it's a good idea to clean the waste ink pad. I had to do this with my printer as the little pad that caps the head was becoming saturated and was not draining properly into the larger pad in the base of the printer, resulting in smudges across my prints. The 2100 / 2200 has to be disassembled to get to the big pads, unlike the larger models which have user- removable trays. If you just want to clean the little pad that sits under the head, just yank the power plug out while the head is away from its "parked" position (either during a test print, during initialisation or whatever). After this you can push the head further out of the way by hand if necessary, and you now have access to the pad. The pad can be removed for easier cleaning but IIRC it's in pretty tight and is quite fiddly to get out. When you're done just plug the printer back in and turn it on - it'll sort itself out.
