It is not a genuine 500mm, but rather the A* 300mm F/2.8 combined
with the Pentax 1.7x AF converter, making it an 510mm f/5 or so ...

Good and fast AF, but over a very limitted range, so 
pre-focussing is important, and sometimes not that easy :-)

I use that on a Manfrotto 'poor mans wimberly' and monopod, see:
