For the IR remote, set the selection to the Fn menu->drive mode choices to the rightmost icon "Remote Cont. (3s delay)". This will allow the mirror pre-fire function identically to the "Self-Timer (2s delay)" setting for use with the wired remote or standard shutter release button.
