Godfrey, I must say I am surprised. I used to have a bag (in principle similar to this) and I found it to be very frustrating at times. When I moved to backpack configuration I thought it was a blessing, because my both hands very symmetrically free. Again, I am not trying to pass judgment on your choice. It is just that I am kind of thinking out loud.
