The curious thing I discovered was that, with a filter in place, I needed to remove it frequently to clean the lens and the backside of the filter. Without a filter in place, cleaning my lenses is required far less frequently and most of the time all that's required is a quick puff with a Giottos Rocket rather than wiping the surface.
