I'll soon be the market for a new combination photo/laptop backpack.
I've tried the traditonal single strap over-the-shoulder style packs,
and I really dislike them after packing in all my gear. Just too much
weight to one side.

A couple months ago I picked up a no-name pack off eBay, which turned
out to be a total waste of money. It had what could best be described
as a file pocket which you could technically slide a laptop into, if you
didn't care about protecting it at all. It also had very little
individual storage for small parts.

My two biggest requirements are good protection for the laptop, as well
as lots of micro storage. I'll gladly give up total volume for good
organization of smaller bits and pieces. Being a techie, I tend to
carry around a good bit more computer gear than most. I'm currently
light on camera gear, but it only grows from here :D

Ideally I'd like something to handle a 15" laptop (have zero intentions
of going any bigger), handful of accessories, two SLR sized camera
bodies with "normal" lenses attached, and probably 4-6 additional
lenses, including a relatively long telephoto lens (planning for the
possible future). There also needs to to be a decent amount of micro
storage for general things like lens cleaners, pens/pencils, ac
adapters, cell phone, PDA, headphones, etc. I really dislike having a
couple small to medium sized pouches to just toss piles of stuff into,
then get to untangle them every time I want one item.

I've been checking at my local Fry's and photo shops, and haven't been
able to come up with much. The few packs I've found capable of holding
a laptop seem to really small, on the order of small daypacks, where
you'd be lucky to get more than 2 lenses and one body in the bag. They
sure look trendy though!

Any suggestions?
