I am with Godfrey about this. I've an external 0.5 TB hard drive and I am using EMC Retrospect software (that came with the HD) to weekly or even more often back up all my hard drives. I've been shooting less than you but in principle it is very similar solution. I've few tens of CDs and less than ten DVDs but I've decided to not bother with smaller media.
