Amen, brother.  I have a little $75 UPS that keeps my DVR/DirecTV box  
going for upwards of 45 minutes if there is an outage.  Plus it keeps  
the harddrive in the DVR from getting screwed up if the power  
"bounces" down and up quickly (or, even worse, over and over!)
