I did used Picasa for the most part on my PC (remember the part about
being frustrated with the GIMP  :), and it did a pretty good job.  I
actually liked it better than iPhoto.  I cannot speak to the technical
aspects of conversion and adjustments, etc, but as far as the
useablitly, I think that it is a little more flexible than iPhoto in
what you can and cannot do.  Although, I believe it is the newest
version of iPhoto that has the thouch up tool, which is kind of handy.
 I also like the non-destructive aspect of LR, Picasa and iPhoto,
makes me less scared I am going to destroy something.
