I've used the 14mm. Not so much wider and not sharper than my DA 16-45, 
hence I wasn't really tempted to buy it. In brief, I think it's not enought 
a step from the DA 16-45mm. For those who own the DA 18-55mm, it can be a 
totally different case and it can be worth.

The DA 12-24 has been on my wish list since its introduction, as it's much 
wider than the 16-45 and looks at least as sharp as the DA 14mm, so you 
won't suffer on that. IMHO, one stop faster (F2.8 vs. F4) at such short 
focal lengths won't balance for the extra field of view the 12-24 will give 
you. I ended up buying tthe zoom and I'm delighted by its performance. CA at 
the wider end is its only visible issue, but it can be fixed rather easy.
