Worse. These days it's better to go through town most days if you have to move about during rush hour. The real key, especially on a long drive like that, is to schedule your transits of /all/ major urban areas. Actually, IIRC, the AAA web site (http://www.aaa.com) has a trip planner that knows about construction and such. That would be another good place for Bill to look. I did a quick check for Moose Jaw to Banner Elk, and got the same route that Google Maps gave me.
