I had friends who had a couple of tarantulas years ago that I was permitted to pet. at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum , a docent was showing us one or two and Richard (my SO who passed away in 1993) claimed he had handled them before so he was allowed to hold one in his hands - the shot I got made me a bit of money through my stock agency. Later, R told me he had not handled them before - but he was very gentle and he caused no harm. On the phobia front, A dear friend of mine has a granddaughter who was, as a child, very phobic about them. Nora, the grandmother, explained at some length to Jenny, age 2, how spiders are our friends, they kill the bad insects, etc,etc... Jenny listened attentively. A few days later, Jenny was outside , grandma inside with a screen door between them. Jenny is reluctant to enter. Nora says " you can come in..." (the middle generation was outside, by the way.) Jenny replied " I can't - there's a friend on the door." annsan a bit phobic about spiders in childhood, too Bob Shell wrote: >On Dec 9, 2006, at 2:44 PM, David J Brooks wrote: > > > >>No problem Bruce. >> >>Its my one big Phobia i;m afraid.
