Hi CW, hey this is Malta everything is on a small scale... If the organisers could afford a venue like that and compete on that scale it would probably be next to impossible to shoot so close to the action. None of the riders are full time professional riders, ie all of them have regular day jobs. Some of them do compete internationally though naturally the few that do are supported in some way or another by sponsorship.
On an internaitonal scale the track would probably be considered as a small/medium sized practice track. >From my point of view it works just fine because acceess to shoot is relatively easy to obtain and the venue has minimal background clutter. The small spectator stand (150 seats or so) that exists at the track would have been behind me.
