Interesting reading, Godfrey. Enjoyed for progress report. 
I've only been in the western fringes of NM (in addition to doing the
freeway thru Albuquerque), cut across the Texas panhandle once, but
have camera hunted in about every place else, both west and north of
those areas.
I realized 'prox 16 mpg..so there! =)
