The F and FA versions of these two 50mm lenses are identical. The 50/1.7s are optically identical from the M series to the FA series, the 50/1.4s are optically identical from the A series to the FA series.
The FA mount includes more information to the camera (MTF data) and I found I preferred the focusing ring design on the FA50/1.4 over the F50/1.7.
