Couple of things to consider - the kit lens only goes as wide as 18mm
- the 16-45 goes to 16. That is somewhat like comparing 24mm to 28mm
in the film 35mm arena. So the wideness is noticeable. On top of
that, it is a constant f4 aperture while the kit lens is variable from
3.5 to 5.6. So the kit is slower and has the general issues of a
changing aperture as you zoom. So even if the image quality was the
same, there are good reasons to consider the DA 16-45/4 over the kit
lens. From my experience, the DA 16-45 is better image quality than
the kit. So if the 16-50/2.8 is going to be too rich for your blood,
I wouldn't hesitate to get the DA 16-45.
