the explosions shock wave was indeed visible on the right side of the flash
and I expected everything in pieces inside.
But the AF330FTZ flash is alive again and working like it should ;-)
Pentax = works even after the big bang ;-)

Sounds like the capacitor discharged directly to ground without any
intervening circuitry.  I don't think it would explode, but it might
feel like it if your hand had been in the way.
