It's 28-135 IS and 75-300 IS, and body is either Elan 7e or even IXe :-).
I know these two lenses are consumer zooms and 75-300 is the first
generation IS and 28-135 is not the latest incarnation either.
I seldom uses those lenses these days but I just tested now.
Yes, it is "almost" instant but I still "feel" some time lag, certainly not
instant.  I used to have a 100-400 IS "telescopic" monster but I felt the
same way.  I am not bashing these IS lenses (I loved those) but the time lag
is definitely there.
I was trying to say it is not like "a few seconds".  You may say the better
Canon IS lenses and a body will make a difference.  Maybe.
