Not having a K10D to comment on, i'll just add this. When i bought my Nikon 70-200 VR lens, the first time i tried it, it made a loud clicking sound when the shutter was pressed half way and engaged the vr. Not having had one before, i thought it defective, but the good folk at wwww dot nikond1 dot com, reasured me thats the way it is with in lens nikon VR.
Hopefully this is the case with the K10D.
