NOT QUITE - Pentax themselves are touting how their NEW
DSLR cameras can use MILLIONS of old PK lenses. Its really
moronic or shady IMHO. Its like they want to sell new bodies
by lying about the old lenses, and they want to sell new lenses
by disabling the older ones at the same time. All over a missing $5
assembly.
($50 retail).

I've followed all of this discussion for some time now.

One person thinks Pentax should implement a feature to make it easy
to use old lenses with full compatibility. That would make sense if
Pentax was in the business of selling used lenses. Since they are in
the business of selling new lenses, planned obsolescence of features
used on old lenses is a very sound business decision. This insures
that they will continue to sell new lenses, at least until enough
time has passed to obsolete them all with something newer.
