Hello Paul, The new grip is a bit better than the one on the D. It has three posts at the edges to keep it from twisting on the camera - the D only had two. It is easier to screw tight to the body, and the shutter button doesn't accidentally get pushed by your hand when in landscape mode (some of you know what I am talking about - the mysterious sudden lens focusing...). It also has the needed buttons from the body so that you can run it from the grip - green, AE-L and compensation - including lighting up of the top LCD.
Speaking of which, I just noticed the lighting on the top LCD - much improved visibility over the D. Lots of little touches about this camera to like <grin>. -- Best regards, Bruce Wednesday, November 22, 2006, 6:41:13 PM, you wrote: PS> First off, I should say I've been shooting an *istD with a battery PS> grip.
