Not sure about other lenses, the only reason I know is Paul Stregevsky
(former PDML member) contacted me regarding a Sigma 16mm Fisheye that I'd
bought and we swapped some images to compare with his earlier version of the
lens (XQ?). We corresponded quite a lot and he sent me some pdf files, one
of which was a table of all tested ultra wide lenses with user comments.
Very useful information, I had a Tokina 17mm f/3.5 at the time which was
reasonable when stopped down but eventually bought the K 18mm at a bargain
price. I often wonder if the lens I bought was the one commented on in the
lens table as the owner had blacked out the lettering around the front
element. I've had a MIR 20mm as well, neither the MIR or Tokina seemed as
good as the K 18mm IMHO and apparently both are longer than their stated
focal length, although I cannot confirm this. I've never used a filter on
the K 18mm, not even for protection.

Regards,

John
