IMO, the way members of the list are obsessing with this thread is enough to
make me go back to the Leica list insanity of my past. Give it a break!
However, I want a shot at it too....

 Longer lenses have less DOF than shorter lanses AT ANY SAME STOP compared
between the lenses. Look at the DOF scales engraved on lens bodies or any of
the tables of computed DOF published for anout a century. Ease (accuracy?)
of focus in a slr camera is related to the perceived DOF. Assuming adequate
"brightness" of the image in the finder, the narrow DOF of long lenses will
"snap into focus" more readily than when using a shorter lens. Shel's
experiment makes sense.

Now let's talk about the K1D or Roswell.
