Call their tech support. I have no idea why it would be doing that.

Mac OS X includes drivers for a lot of the Canon printers as part of  
the main OS install. If you look in /Library/Printers, you should see  
a folder for Canon. Inside that, if you see something with S800 on  
it, that would indicate that a driver was already installed and all  
you need to do is to configure it with the Printer Setup utility  
application.

(I didn't install any of the Canon printers on my system so I can't  
check explicitly here. However, you can go back to the system install  
DVD and do a custom install, electing only the Canon print drivers,  
to get them all.)
