In my day, if you were at school you were a pupil. You became a
student when you went to university. However, nowadays kids at school
seem to be called students too. Being at school was always considered
work. We were given course work, school work, home work, woodwork,
metalwork, you name it. It was all work. Work, work, work. We even had
an ethic for it.
