The sensor is not fixed, it can be moved around by shaking the camera. Apparently, Pentax engineers have tested this exhaustively, and there is no ill effect from the loose CCD. >From what JohnCPentax has described (not sure if I understand him correctly), the CCD only moves into position after the shutter release is pressed, and *during* the time when the mirror flips up.
