Hi everyone! I am a new member of this list. I figured
that this is an appropriate thread to reply to. I
guess I am a Pentaxian at heart. I started with a
Pentax K1000 and later Chinon K mount bodies.
Somewhere along the line I became a Zuikoholic -
Olympus user. I like both manufacturer's probably
because they typically dont follow the norm.

I could have easily gone with the *istds but with just
a couple of weeks before the *istds2 rollout left I
figured I would wait. Well I waited and waited and
still no *istds2. In the meantime Olympus intro'd the
E-500 which is a very capable camera. Olympus lenses
are top notch. However, I find that a lack of support
from 3rd party manufacturers (Sigma, Tamron, etc) and
lens choices for the Olympus DSLR's, particularly wide
angle is discouraging me to continue with Olympus. I
am seriously considering switching over when the
Pentax K10d arrives. I know many of you might say well
its not the equipment, however some of the things
Olympus is doing (or not doing) concerns me. They
havent improved upon the four-thirds technology. They
did introduce a 10mp E-400 but its not going to be
available in the USA!?! So basically I am back at
square one.

Recently I purchased some M42 mount lenses to use on
the Oly DSLR. I ended up getting a very inexpensive
Spotmatic SP which came with a beauty Super Tak 50mm
F1.4. The Spotmatic brought back some memories and I
sent the Spotty out for a good old CLA/Repair.

My interest in Pentax has been revived. It was easier
back in the pre-digital days. You stuck with some
system. Pentax was an affordable system to get into,
esp. for a student.

My dad bought a Yashica Electro 35 back from Japan. I
didnt really have an interest at the time and the
camera broke due to neglect. I hit college and found
myself with a photo bug. Today I have a couple of
Yashica Electro's which I love!
