Thanks, Doug. Peace.

What I mean by "Pentax guys" is the employees of the national/regional
importers, like Pentax USA. The ones from Pentax USA usually disclose
little, but others are not so reticent. Some of the first photos we saw
of the K10D were unofficial ones from Russia. Those disappeared from the
web in about 48 hours. Most recently, guys from Pentax Germany have said
that the DA* lenses will have both in-lens motors and the old autofocus
drive shaft. Almost simultaneously, employees from Pentax Japan were
saying they couldn't confirm or deny this.

But surprisingly, some of the most accurate predictions recently have
come from the Pentax importer in Malta. He got the replaceable battery
right. Go figure.

Joe,

Don't take it personally. I certainly didn't mean it that way. You just
happened to provide the post that made me want to reply to =all= the
worriers. I consider you a valuable member and am always glad to see
your photos, especially the ones featuring decaying structures.

But you do ring up a couple points that I'd like to address.

1. You say that Pentax never communicates to its customers. Yet you
also, in other threads, often discount what "Pentax guys" do say. So
basically, it appears that you want to hear from Pentax, but you won't
believe what they say. It's perplexing.

2. Pentax doesn't exactly have a track record of bowing to "the market."
What makes you think they're going to start now?

And, oh, another reason to cheer up: At least when you post something
that disagrees with what has been written, you don't usually get accused
of attempted censorship.

have fun,

Doug
