In the case of the K10D I think it's BS, in reality it would have
created a similar groundswell at US$100-150 a piece more on the MSRP
with the more price sensitive punters knowing that soon enough it
would be available in the streets at under US$1000, then even the
first months sales (13000 :-) would have netted up to US$2M in gross
sales.
