I'm not on dial up on the new machine - I have roadrunner
broadband...
but I don't intned to use it for email.  Actually, I leave
the old
computer online constantly to force people to call me on my
cell phone
and because it is so safe...

I turn off the cable modem when I'm not actually using the
machine pretty much.

Well, just a while ago the machine told me I had one program
running and I wasn't
aware of ANYTHING running... 
is there a list somewhere on one's machine that lists what
is "Running?"
