I agree.  I'm sure it did cut some cost.  The secondary reason for the move 
*may have been* presented as the primary reason.  This is all unoffical of 
course.

I agree on all but the last item. Less parts do cost less. So yes, it is
a cost cutting measure, although I doubt that was the primary reason for
the change.
