When I posted my comment I knew that there would be several people speaking
up about the new gear they purchased. But my point was - and still is -
that many of the loudest critics may not have purchased much, if any, new
Pentax gear.

Frankly, my feeling is that if you purchased gear "on the come," you made a
mistake. Long, long ago I learned a valuable lesson: just because someone
says they're going to do something doesn't mean that they'll do it. My
first real estate transaction was going to net me a commission of more than
$30,000. We opened escrow, and I bought a car. I told a relative about the
deal and he said "Don't spend your money until escrow closes." I knew what
he meant, but had already spent the $$. A few weeks later the deal fell
apart and I was in worse shape than before.

While I can certainly empathize with you, it was your mistake and not
Pentax letting _you_ down that caused your grief.
