Not really, Jens... Sounds nearly square, but the designation only represents a nominal dimension expressed to the nearest whole centimetre. And further, it's converted from inch measurements, actually 2.25 x 2.75 inches, close to 57mm x 70mm. That can be printed on 4x5, 8x10, or 16x20 inch paper with very minimal cropping, thus termed "ideal format."
