Talking of IR remotes, I just got my Zoom 90WR back from long term loan.
Curious as to why the remote has a "non user-servicable battery", I
took it apart. 8-) It is just a simple lithium button cell. After
taking the single screw out, judicious use of the fingernails separates
the two halves, the PCB comes out with another screw and the battery is
underneath. AFAICS, no volatile memory or any other reason why someone
with an opposable thumb on each hand could not change it themself. No
orientation signs for the battery, though, so you have to remember which
way round it goes back.

If anyone wants to buy one of these, complete with an attached Espio 160
that has had maybe a dozen films through it, let me know.
