Doug,

I'm kinda suprised by a lot of the advice you been
given so far. The old trick I've used in the past has
always worked: thread a couple more filters onto the
stuck filter and tighten them slightly. Then you've
got better leverage to get the stuck one off and they
usually all come off together.

I would try this first before anything.
