If your screen is properly calibrated the ICM should pass on the
screen cal details to your edit/viewing program so you really don't
have to guess how lower gamut renderings will appear. IOW my screen
(probably like yours) has a wider colour gamut and greater contrast
than the sRGB colour space but since my screen is calibrated I can see
how an sRGB rendering will appear in PS if I use proof view.
