I can't say for sure if the DA 14/2.8 is sharper than the DA 12-24,  
although I expect it would be, at least at f4. However, based on  
images I've seen, I think the DA 12-24 is better corrected. It seems  
to have a bit less barrel distortion. But again, that's based on  
inconclusive evidence. To my knowledge, no one on the list has done  
an actual comparison. That's because none of us can justify owning  
both lenses :-).
