It's a public list that's archived on the internet. That's the whole  
idea of the internet: open access.

I get absolutely no spam, and I've been on the list continuously for  
many years. I don't know if that's due to comcast's filtering or just  
plain good luck. But I do know that my e-mail address appears in  
numerous places on the web. By choice.
