It's probably DDR400 RAM. The processor is 400 MHZ FSB. If you don't
have DDR400 memory, you'll see a performance increase just by
upgrading that.

Honestly, unless you move up to a motherboard that either has
dual-channel RAM access, or uses DDR2 RAM (not backwards compatible
with your DDR RAM), you probably won't see much of a performance
difference. The real bottleneck is between the memory and the
processor.

Probably about a 2 or a 3 on that scale. Honestly, your money is
probably better spent in getting more memory. Photoshop is MUCH
happier on my machine with a gig of RAM available than it was with
only 512 megabytes.

If I were in your position, I'd probably spend $50-60 to throw another
512 megabytes of RAM at the machine, and start saving up for one of
the Intel-based macs. The Core 2 Duo would be a significant
improvement over what you have now.
