Isn't clear yet - may just be drivers need reinstall...

Really all the guy did was split my cable... and try to
attache it to the bus
with a a usb line - the ports were used... we unplugged the
cord that i was hooking up
the 4 other things with and attached the cable box --
nothing went... and my mouse died.
Ironically, I had replaced the WACOM tablet with a plain
mouse about a month ago

when we rebooted the machine it thought the tablet was still
there.
anyway -- I'm hoping for a rescue - during the day today
Nothing will keep me from Scrabble club tonight :)
