Was the mirror locked up when you picked it up or did it lock when you first fired it? If the latter, I would suspect a sticky seal. You should be able to pry it down if there is a convenient piece of metal to lever on. Of course, it will just do it again at the next shutter press but you should be able to see the sticky point.
