That's not an issue Doug. a) Pentax issues a new DSLR model every 6 
months. b) USM is by definition entitled to be disruptive.

I said it the other day too; this is nothing to do with backward 
compatibility (which I value a lot).

This is a very fair point, as are all your points re focal length, who 
this will benefit etc.
