Not necessarily, Joe. If the lens can be restored by disassembly, cleaning and reassembly, they'll do that. If the elements are damaged, they can replace them with factory originals and properly readjust the lens to as new specification. Even if they did strip and recoat the lenses, however, based on the work I've seen from them I doubt you would find any fault with their work. They are top notch, the lenses that have been restored by them after heinous coating damage have proven to be superb performers.
